Jacoby Brissett No concern about shoulder

Brissett (right shoulder) said Tuesday that he feels "100 percent fine" and is ready for the start of the regular season, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

It's not surprising given that Brissett played two more snaps and threw a pair of accurate passes after taking a hard hit on the opening drive of Sunday's preseason loss to Washington. The Patriots planned on playing him for just one series anyway before bringing rookie QB Drake Maye into the game. Coach Jerod Mayo acknowledged Monday that Maye outplayed Brissett during the preseason, but Mayo also suggested he may name the veteran as the Week 1 starter, saying, "We've all seen the horror stories of rookie QBs getting thrown to the wolves," per Chad Graff of The Athletic. Mayo hasn't said when he plans to name his starter for the regular-season opener at Cincinnati.
