Josh Downs MRI confirms high ankle sprain

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star both relayed than an MRI has confirmed that Downs suffered a high ankle sprain during Wednesday's practice.
Per Rapoport, Downs' recovery time could be in the 4-6 week range, though the hope is that the wideout's timeline could end up on the shorter end of the estimate. In any case, Downs' status for the Colts' Sept. 8 regular-season opener could be impacted, and if so, added opportunities would be available early on for fellow WRs Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce alongside Michael Pittman.
