Done for year
Hines (knee) will remain sidelined for the rest of the 2024 season, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Hines had his 21-day practice window expire Wednesday, failing to be added to the active roster before it's conclusion. The running back is still working his way back from a torn ACL that he suffered in July of 2023 and he'll now shift his focus to being ready to go for next season.

Won't play vs. Ravens
Coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that Hines (knee) is out for Week 8 versus Baltimore, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Hines participated fully in practice ahead of Week 7 but ultimately didn't suit up for that contest either, so it's possible injury alone can't fully explain why he isn't active yet. After the long-awaited return of starter Nick Chubb, the Browns now already have four running backs on their active roster, so even if Hines works his way back into the mix soon, he won't be on the fantasy radar for most formats.
Not active for Week 7
Hines (knee) was not activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Hines was a full participant in all three practices this week, but he will remain sidelined while in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL he suffered in July of 2023. Because his practice window opened Oct. 2, the Browns will need to activate Hines off injured reserve by Wednesday, otherwise he will remain on IR for the rest of the 2024 season. Even without Hines and Jerome Ford (hamstring) for Sunday's game, the Browns are expecting Nick Chubb (knee) to be active, and he will lead the three-man backfield that includes D'Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong.
Not likely to play this week
Hines (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Hines, who remains on the reserve/non-football injury list, practiced fully this week, but Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com relays that coach Kevin Stefanski noted Friday that Hines is unlikely to play this weekend. With Jerome Ford out with a hamstring injury, Nick Chubb (reserve/PUP, knee) is expected to return to action Sunday, joining a Cleveland backfield that also includes D'Onta Foreman (groin) and Pierre Strong.
Could return in Week 7?
Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Wednesday that Hines (knee) is doing "very well," Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Hines has yet to play this season after being placed on the Browns' non-football injury list in late August. However, he was designated to return on Oct. 2 and has practiced in a limited fashion since. The veteran running back has until Oct. 23 to be activated to Cleveland's active roster before reverting to the non-football injury list, but Stefanski's comments Wednesday suggest that Hines will likely return for the Browns' Week 7 matchup against the Bengals.
Sidelined another week
Hines (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Hines was designated to return from Cleveland's non-football injury list on Oct. 2 and has been practicing in a limited fashion since. However, it appears the veteran running back is still not ready for in-game action just yet. Expect D'Onta Foreman (ankle) and Pierre Strong (hamstring) to serve as the Browns' top backup running backs behind Jerome Ford in Week 6.
Won't play Week 5
Hines (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Washington, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Hines remains on the reserve/NFI list but had his 21-day practice window opened this week. He'll have a couple more weeks to get ready. With Nick Chubb (knee, PUP) still working his way back, the Browns will continue to roll with Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman at least one more week.
Limited Thursday
Hines (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Hines, who was designated to return from the non-football injury list earlier this week, was limited for a second consecutive day. It's unlikely he'll be ready to go for Sunday's road game against the Commanders.
Puts in limited practice
Hines (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
The Browns received a jolt Wednesday with both Hines and Nick Chubb (knee) back on the practice field. It's unclear if either will be ready to help the league's 26th-ranked rushing offense (94.8 yards per game) in time for a Week 5 matchup against Washington. In addition to Hines and Chubb, Pierre Strong (hamstring) was back on the field Wednesday.
