Draws two targets in Week 14

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-12-10

Jones played 24 of the Cardinals' 71 snaps on offense and finished with a 13-yard reception on two targets in Sunday's 30-18 loss to the Seahawks.

Jones finished fourth among Arizona wideouts in snaps, with Marvin Harrison (60) and Michael Wilson (59) finishing comfortably ahead of him and Greg Dortch (27) narrowly beating him out. The 29-year-old had played more snaps than Dortch in both of the previous three games, but he went without a target in all of those contests. With Harrison, Wilson, tight end Trey McBride and running back James Conner all greater priorities in the passing attack, Jones likely won't have an opportunity to see enough volume to make a splash in fantasy over the Cardinals' final four games of the season.

Non-factor in Week 7

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-10-23

Jones failed to secure his lone target in Monday's 17-15 win over the Chargers.

Jones made his season debut Monday after missing the first six games of the campaign, albeit it in a limited role. The veteran wideout played just 11 of the Cardinals' 57 offensive snaps in the contest behind fellow receivers Marvin Harrison (48), Michael Wilson (44) and Greg Dortch (17). Buried on Arizona's depth chart as a member of an inconsistent passing attack, Jones should remain far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 8 matchup against the Dolphins.

Full practice Thursday

Jones (hamstring) was a full practice participant Friday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

After missing the first six games of the campaign, five of them due to a suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, Jones now has a clear runway to a role in Arizona's offense. With Marvin Harrison (concussion) and Michael Wilson (ankle) both limited to kick off Week 7 prep, Jones is getting valuable reps in team drills, which may translate to the field Monday against the Chargers.

Back on active roster

The Cardinals lifted Jones' (hamstring) one-game roster exemption Monday.

Jones thus is back on the Cardinals' active roster for the first time since the NFL handed him a five-game suspension Aug. 23 for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. The ban actually was lifted last Monday, but Arizona was granted the roster exemption at the same time, giving them until this Monday to activate him. Jones then picked up a hamstring injury last Thursday, which seemingly was enough for the team to hold him out Sunday at Green Bay. The Cards play next Monday against the Chargers, meaning his health may not receive clarity until Thursday's practice report, at the earliest.

Won't play this week

Jones (hamstring) won't play in Sunday's game at Green Bay, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Reinstated from a five-game suspension at the beginning of the week, Jones will now miss a sixth game while nursing a hamstring injury. The Cardinals have a one-game roster exemption, giving them until Monday to place Jones back on the active roster. It apparently won't happen before Sunday's game, with coach Jonathan Gannon noting Friday that the wide receiver is dealing with discomfort in his hamstring after returning to practice Wednesday.

Limited by hamstring

Jones (suspension) was limited at Thursday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Reinstated from his five-game suspension to begin the season on Monday, Jones then had a one-game roster exemption placed on him by the Cardinals, giving the team until Monday, Oct. 14 to bring him back to the active roster. Arizona released WR Chris Moore on Wednesday, thereby opening up an immediate roster spot for Jones, but the latter now is dealing with a health concern of unknown severity. Arizona can clear up any questions about Jones' status for Week 6 on Friday's injury report, but he'll need to have the exemption removed by Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET to have any chance to play Sunday at Green Bay.

Logs full practice Wednesday

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-10-09

Jones (suspension) practiced fully Wednesday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Since he was reinstated from his five-game suspension to begin the season Monday, Jones has had a one-game roster exemption placed upon him, which gives the Cardinals until Monday, Oct. 14 to add him to the active roster. They seemingly plan to do so before then, as a spot on the roster opened up Wednesday with the release of fellow WR Chris Moore. In the end, Arizona must make a decision by 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday in order for Jones to be available Sunday at Green Bay.

Suspension over, but has roster exemption

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-10-07

Jones' suspension was lifted Monday, but the Cardinals were granted a one-game roster exemption, giving the team a deadline of Monday, Oct. 14 to reinstate him to the active roster or otherwise release him, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Jones opened the 2024 campaign with a five-game ban for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. With five games behind Arizona, the team now can evaluate him in practice this week and bring him back to the active roster at any point in the next week, including in advance of Sunday's contest at Green Bay. Coach Jonathan Gannon spoke of the wide receiver Monday, saying he's "excited about Zay adding in here. We'll find the right ways to deploy him, and he's a playmaker for us, can play all three positions, and he can make plays." Considering those comments, releasing Jones doesn't seem to be an option for the Cardinals, so he likely will make his debut with the team this weekend or Week 6 against the Chargers on Monday, Oct. 21.

Suspension to be lifted

RotoWire Logo Published: 2024-10-07

Jones (suspension) is slated to be reinstated from the reserve/suspended list Monday, though the Cardinals aren't expected to immediately return him to the 53-man roster, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.

Arizona is expected to request, and receive, a temporary roster exemption of one or two weeks for Jones, per Balzer. The veteran wide receiver received a five-game suspension back in August, relating to a Nov. 13 arrest. Jones will be eligible to suit up Sunday on the road against Green Bay, at the earliest, but it sounds like the Cardinals could wait a game or two to catch him up to speed. Once deemed ready, Jones figures to compete with Greg Dortch for work alongside Marvin Harrison and Michael Wilson.
